Smartlead → Salesforce
Smartlead doesn't ship a Salesforce connector, and its own integrations page routes Salesforce through OutboundSync. Here is what that sync writes and how to set it up.
Smartlead connects to Salesforce through OutboundSync, which is the path Smartlead itself lists for Salesforce. Sends, manual replies, opens, clicks, replies, bounces, unsubscribes, and lead category changes are logged on the matching Lead or Contact as Tasks or EmailMessage records. Salesforce reports can be synced back to Smartlead as block lists.
| Status | Live |
|---|---|
| Channels | |
| Direction | Activity Smartlead → Salesforce; block lists Salesforce → Smartlead |
| Salesforce records | Leads, or Contacts and Accounts |
| Block lists | Yes, from Salesforce reports |
| Smartlead plan | Pro or higher |
| Setup | Self-serve: create an External Client App, then connect it in OutboundSync |
Without a native connector, Salesforce teams on Smartlead usually end up with CSV imports or a brittle middleware job. OutboundSync replaces both. Point a Smartlead webhook at an OutboundSync source and every campaign event is written to Salesforce with its campaign, sequence step, and lead category, so reps see the full thread on the record they already use.
The Task subject line is yours to template. Include the event type and the Smartlead lead category name, and you can route interested replies with a Flow or report on meetings requested by campaign without touching custom code. Optional OutboundSync fields on the Lead and Contact keep the latest category visible in list views.
Every event below arrives in near-real time and lands on the matched Salesforce record. Pick the ones you want per source.
| Event | Channel | Where it lands in Salesforce |
|---|---|---|
| Email sent— Includes manual replies sent from the Smartlead inbox | Task or EmailMessage on the Lead or Contact | |
| Email opened | Task on the Lead or Contact, plus optional OutboundSync fields | |
| Link clicked | Task on the Lead or Contact, plus optional OutboundSync fields | |
| Reply received | Task or EmailMessage on the Lead or Contact | |
| Email bounced | Task on the Lead or Contact, plus optional OutboundSync fields | |
| Lead unsubscribed | Task on the Lead or Contact, plus optional OutboundSync fields | |
| Lead category updated— Smartlead's built-in and custom lead categories | Task plus optional OutboundSync fields on the Lead or Contact |
Event names come from the Smartlead webhooks OutboundSync receives. See the Smartlead event reference.
Trigger a Salesforce Flow when the Smartlead lead category changes, and assign interested Leads in minutes.
Group Tasks by Smartlead campaign ID so reporting survives renamed campaigns and cloned sequences.
Turn a report of customers and open opportunities into a Smartlead block list that stays current.
The options teams weigh before they commit a production sync.
| Option | What it does | Trade-off |

| Smartlead's native Salesforce connectorNative integration comparison | Smartlead does not ship a native Salesforce connector. | Smartlead has no native Salesforce connector — its own integrations page routes Salesforce sync through OutboundSync.Source: smartlead.ai |
| Zapier, Make, or n8nCompare integration platforms | Catch Smartlead webhooks and write each event to Salesforce with a workflow you build. | Every event type, retry, and field change is a workflow you maintain, billed per task or step. |
| Custom buildBuild vs buy | Write your own service against the Smartlead and Salesforce APIs. | You own matching, deduplication, API limits, and every upstream schema change. |
| OutboundSync | Pre-built email activity sync into Salesforce Leads and Contacts, with Salesforce reports pushed back as block lists. | Self-serve setup, searchable event logs, and support from the team that maintains the connector. |
A Salesforce admin creates an External Client App, then connects it in OutboundSync and picks Task or EmailMessage logging.
Add your Smartlead API key in OutboundSync, then paste the source's webhook URL into Smartlead.
Pick which Smartlead events to log, whether they write Tasks or EmailMessage records, and which OutboundSync fields to fill.
Point a Salesforce report of customers, open deals, or do-not-contact records at Smartlead so they never get cold outreach.
Trigger one Smartlead event and confirm it on a real Lead or Contact.
Turn on the source and start building Salesforce reports, dashboards, and Flows on real Smartlead data.
Pro or higher
OutboundSync requires Smartlead's Pro plan or higher, because it relies on Smartlead's webhook and API features.
OutboundSync works across Salesforce editions. The difference is API capacity: plan for roughly 6 API calls per sent email once replies and status events are counted.
| Edition | Fit | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Professional | Limited support - API limits may restrict ongoing sync. |
|
| EnterpriseMost common | Recommended - Best balance of capability, API capacity, and cost. |
|
| Unlimited | Ideal - Best for scale and high activity volume. |
